According to Stewart Mandel of SI.com, USC head coach Pete Carroll officially named junior Mark Sanchez the starting quarterback for the 2008 season.

Sanchez was competing with Mitch Mustain, a transfer from Arkansas, who Carroll claims had made Sanchez a better quarterback.

Sanchez has three starts under his belt as he stepped in for John David Booty last season when he went down with an injury.
