Investigators from the NFL looking into how much steroids are used in the league under their nose met with convicted steroids dealer David Jacobs on Friday to talk about his connection with a number of people affiliated with the league.
The league is hoping Jacobs can clear up many issues for them, as reported by The Associated Press: Jacobs pleaded guilty last year in federal court to conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute anabolic steroids. He was sentenced to probation May 1. Jacobs has said he provided steroids and human growth hormone to NFL offensive lineman Matt Lehr and another player. He also said the players he sold performance-enhancing drugs to supplied them to other players. “They wanted to know what information I had and what other documentary evidence I could provide them,†Jacobs told the newspaper. “I told them I was not going to talk specifics without my lawyer present. They wanted to know a list of players I dealt with and knew, and I told them I didn’t feel comfortable doing that.â€
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed the fact that investigators met with Jacobs, but would not add any further comment.
