The NFL has selected Indianapolis over Glendale, AZ. and Houston, TX to host the 2012 Super Bowl. The game would be played in the new home of the Colts, Lucas Oil Stadium, which is scheduled to open in 2008, replacing the RCA Dome. As reported by Bloomberg News: Owners reached their decision after hearing a 15-minute pitch from representatives of each host site and a five-minute presentation from the owner of each city's NFL franchise. […] Indianapolis lost a bid for the 2011 Super Bowl, which was awarded to Dallas. Miami and New Orleans have each hosted the championship event nine times. The Colts won the championship game in Miami after the 2006 season. Tampa, Florida, is scheduled to host the game after the 2008 season, and it then moves to Miami for a league-record 10th time in 2010. The report goes on to say that ’07 Super Bowl in Miami generated approx. $195 million in direct spending in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties in South Florida.
