Terrell OwensDespite recent reports stating otherwise, the free-agent status of Terrell Owens was resolved quickly, as the Buffalo Bills have signed the receiver today according to ESPN.com's John Clayton.

Sources say the deal is for one-year, $6.5 million in guaranteed money, and a press conference has been scheduled for this evening. Several reports had listed a number of teams in recent days who were said to have no interest in the volatile star, but Owens' agent Drew Rosenhaus refuted that notion yesterday. "There are several teams that are interested in signing Terrell," Rosenhaus said. "I have been in negotiations with these teams. I will not identify the teams at this time. Terrell and I expect to have a deal in place by the end of next week if not sooner."

The Dallas Cowboys took a $9 million cap hit when they released Owens last Wednesday night, and they paid him a $12 million signing bonus as part of a four-year, $34 million deal in 2008. Owens ranks in the top 10 in just about every major career receiving category, including receptions (Tied-6th), yards (5th), touchdowns (2nd), and yards per game (10th). Only former 49'er teammate Jerry Rice has more career touchdown catches.

The Bills will be the fourth team that Owens has played for during his 14-year NFL career. Prior to playing for the Cowboys from 2006-08, the 35-year-old former Tennessee-Chattanooga star had stints with the 49'ers and Eagles.
