If Super Bowl XLVII is awarded to Arizona… It would mark the third Super Bowl hosted by Arizona. Most recently, University of Phoenix Stadium was the site of Super Bowl XLII when the Giants scored a touchdown with 35 seconds remaining to beat the Patriots,17-14. The 2013 Super Bowl would be the second at University of Phoenix Stadium. Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe was the site of the first Arizona Super Bowl in 1996. If Super Bowl XLVII is awarded to New Orleans… It would mark the 10th Super Bowl hosted by New Orleans and first in 11 years. New Orleans would tie Miami/South Florida as the most frequent Super Bowl site (including the upcoming 2010 Super Bowl at Dolphin Stadium). The 2013 Super Bowl would be the seventh at the Louisiana Superdome. The three other games in New Orleans were played in Tulane Stadium in the 1970s. Most recently, the Patriots outlasted the Rams 20-17 in Super Bowl XXXVI. Adam Vinatieri connected on the game-winning 48-yard field goal as time expired to give the Patriots their first Super Bowl title.
